At the southern edge of Lake Zell in central Austria sits this blessed waterfront cottage in need of an overhaul. Most of the partitionl walls have been torn down, leaving only the load bearing elements and roof.

The facades have been profoundly altered. The traditional balconies in dark wood have been replaced by circular openings on the wall both on the lake and on the street.
Stripping the project of partition walls naturally permits a much freer organization of space. The kitchen is now integrated into the common area, and the eye may enjoy the lake freely from more spaces than it was able to do before.

Upstairs, thick partition walls have been replaced by wooden panels that resemble and extension of the furniture. As such, bedrooms are contained spaces, volumes within a bigger volume below the overarching wooden roof.
